Hakan Sorar is a multidisciplinary artist who began his artistic journey with photography and continues to explore a wide range of digital imaging techniques. His work focuses on the interaction between the body and space, the language of surfaces, and concepts of identity. His interest in archaeology leaves a deep imprint on his creations, where he contemplates ambiguity and possibilities through digital tools and storytelling.
Sorar’s work has evolved from digital photography and collages to incorporating new media techniques such as augmented reality and 3D modeling. Initially combining instant film usage with human figures and architectural elements, his work has transformed into pieces that explore the boundaries of the body and objects within the infinite possibilities offered by the digital world.
Born in Istanbul in 1991, Sorar began his academic education in Mechanical Engineering at Bülent Ecevit University and continued with a master’s degree in the Faculty of Science at Istanbul Medeniyet University. He is currently pursuing his education in Communication Design and Semiotics at Beykoz University Faculty of Art and Design. Sorar’s works have been exhibited on international platforms such as the Mardin Biennial Invited, XX Art Flânerie, and the Istanbul Digital Art Festival, as well as in art institutions and museums like YARAT Contemporary and Istanbul Modern Art Museum. In his first solo exhibition, “Through The Skin,” conceptualized as a VR experience, he explored themes of the body, identity, and digital transformation.
